"NEW TORRIES" LEVE STUDENTS HIGH & DRY

This week the effects off the torries "great new goverment"hit us young students very hard in the pockets today at Jewel & Esk Valley College as we found out by accident from a member of the student services team, that the student bursary won't be paid out to students 18yrs+ for next term even if they were eligible for one this term as the age has now risen to 20's and over due to lack of funds that are now available to the college. Now students who are under 20yrs of age will have to put in for an E.M.A (Education Maintinence Allowence) which is out of the college's juristiction as the goverment deals with all young students who are entitled to E.M.A's. Most young students who we spoke to were full of disgust and in despair on how they were going to be able to afford to do their college course next year as they have a hometo budget for as well and £60 per fortnight just won't do them justice......What do you think!
